Day I - Arrival at Larnaca
Our Students will be welcomed and greeted by our guide at Larnaca airport. During the transfer by a/c coach, our guide will outline the program, making suggestions for free time and offering general information on Cyprus. An advance registration will be arranged, so there will be no need for the students to queue to check in. After a welcome drink, (juice) our students will have some time to relax and enjoy the hotel’s facilities. Dinner will be served at the hotel (on half board terms). Overnight at the hotel.
Day II- Full day tour to Paphos
Breakfast at the hotel and depart for a full day tour to Paphos. Legend has it that Paphos was home of Aphrodite, goddess of beauty and love. Still under the spell of the goddess, the area retains her magic and has remained intact by time. Paphos itself is a leading cultural center of the Mediterranean and the whole town is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Passing though the Fassouri citrus plantations; we come across the medieval 13th century Castle of Kolossi. We continue to the ancient Kingdom of Kourion. Our next visit will be to the Tombs of the Kings, an early Hellenistic monument dating from the 4th century BC.
Return to Larnaca. Overnight
Day -III
Full day at Nicosia
Breakfast at the hotel and depart for a full day tour of Nicosia. Nicosia, or Lefkosia, lies roughly at the center of the island, with a rich history that can be traced back to the Bronze Age. The heart of the city, enclosed by the 16th century Venetian walls, is dotted with museums, ancient churches and medieval buildings. The famous Famagusta Gate still stands proudly today. From there, we will drive to the cathedral of St. John the Evangelist and its 13th and 18th century wall paintings. Enjoy a visit to the prominent Archaeological museum with its collection of Cypriot antiquities and treasures from the Neolithic age to the Early Byzantine period. We will continue to Laiki Geitonia and stroll at leisure down its stone paved streets. Short break for lunch. Students will explore the Byzantine museum in the afternoon.
In the late afternoon, we will return to the hotel in Limassol. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day IV - Full day at Troodos mountain and UNESCO churches
Breakfast at the hotel and depart for a full day tour of Troodos Mountains. Kykkos is the richest and most significant monastery on the island. Founded in 1100 and dedicated to the Virgin Mary, it possesses one of the three surviving icons ascribed to St. Luke. We will take a short stroll to Throni, to visit the tomb of the late Archbishop Makarios III Lunch is served at a local tavern.
Our expedition will take us to Omodos, a traditional Cypriot wine producing village. Students can stroll around the village’s winding streets and mingle with the locals.
In the late afternoon, we will return to the hotel in Limassol.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel at Limassol.
Day – V Departure
Our students will enjoy their breakfast at leisure. Check-out from the hotel and transfer by a/c coach to Larnaca Airport for their departure.
